Meet Maddie & Leiella Pagon

Meet Maddie & Leiella Pagon

Being a member of the male species in the Pagon family with three horse crazy girls is definately a hard gig! A visit to the Pagon family farm in Willunga SA and you will see how much love these girls have for their horses.

The girls never fail to be dressed in PH merchandise head to toe, their ponies lined up, nicely brushed, waiting for Peter's visits to check their many PH Royals, Pony GP's or PH Pony Shows.

Leiella is Peter's shadow and as his assistant, passes him all the tools he needs to repair her saddles on site! Maddy, being the oldest in the family, takes the time to chat with the big girls, whilst keeping a watchful eye on her ponies who look at her with love but with a caution of knowing who is the boss around the stables! (These girls really do know how to be around horses safely, with a bit of fun & love on the side.)

I love this family! Cameron & Kim do everything for their kids, working hard to provide the amazing opportunities for their 3 children. Lachie the sweet young man stuck in the middle, never fails to ensure that my attention is on his newest motorbike and all of the gadgets that go with it!

Did I mention that apart from being decked out in the brand of black and white, everything else is fabulously pink!

We would like to thank the Pagon's for their continual loyalty and love for our brand and we look forward to following these girls through their horse loving careers.

So if you are thinking of buying a new saddle in time for the EKKA show, now is the time to do it! Like these girls, ensure that you are decked out with the best possible Peter Horobin saddle, as it will last you a lifetime!

MY GOOD LUCK CHARM IS:

My mum! She is always there to help me and has taught me everything since I was very little. I also carry a little pin that is an angel in my riding jacket that my parents gave me.

WHEN I GROW UP I WOULD LIKE TO BE A:

Veterinarian of big and small animals. I would love to help all animals in any way I can. I love school and my parents always tell me I can be anything I set my heart on.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT PETER HOROBIN SADDLES:

My saddles are so comfy, the leather is so grippy and they never move on the horses backs. They are always soft and great to ride in from the first day. Most of all they put me in a great rider position and have helped me win lots of Rider titles since I was 4 years old. Mum bought me my first PH Pony when I was 2 years old! I have never ridden in anything else. They are the best. Sometimes when I ride other peoples horses in different saddles, I realize even more how fantastic, soft and comfy my saddles are. I am very lucky. 

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO BEFORE A BIG COMPETITION

Leading up to the competition we ride most days after school. We have 7 in work at the moment so mum will work a few in the day and Leiella and I concentrate on different ones each day after school so that we are accustomed to each horse. The day before the show we wash them, plait their manes and put some clean rugs on. If they have white feet we run some sand paper lightly over them so they are clean for clear gloss on the day of the show. We also clean the saddles and bridles and then pack them in the truck together with all our extra gear. Some things stay in the truck all the time. Mum makes sure we know how to do all the hard work ourselves as well as the fun stuff. I see how much my mum does for my little sister and brother and I appreciate all the things she does for us all. It is a family thing, we don’t have extra help. We have each other to rely on. My dad makes sure the truck is full of diesel and has sawdust in the back for the horses. He also cleans it out for us when we get home from a show, which is great !

WHAT SORT OF RIDER DO I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP:

I love to show horses, especially at the National and Royal shows. There is so much more to showing horses than people think. I do love to jump them and I enjoy some dressage over Winter as well. One day it would be amazing to be in the Olympics! Just depends where my horses and life take me. I’m not worried if that is only the beach and forest so long as I have horses in my life.
