In the late 1960's the young Horobin family, based on the south coast of New South Wales, waited anxiously for news of the welfare of their father, Keith.
The young father had been involved in a mine collapse and many close to the operation were fearful that Horobin would not escape. After an intensive search Keith Horobin emerged with a broken neck. Far from being beaten by the accident, Horobin shocked the family by declaring that he would like to embark on a career as a jumps jockey in Europe.
