All our PHS and StrideFree® saddles are flocked with wool. Our wool is sourced from sustainable farms throughout Australia and Europe. Many saddles in the market use foam in the panels and this limits flexibility and movement with the horse.
Wool moulds to the horses shape and moves and flexes with the horses' movements. Foam tends to 'bounce' rather than flex and so the saddle doesn't organically move with horse and rider.
Wool flocked saddles are easily re-flocked or can have wool taken out if necessary, making it easy to properly pad the saddle ensuring a perfect fit with the changing shape of horse.
When first riding in a Peter Horobin saddle, it's important to ride in the saddle for a couple of weeks to allow the fresh flocked saddle to mould into the horse with movement and the weight of yourself. It's also important to have an assessment every six to twelve months for an adjustment.
